School Resources

Dear Teachers!

Do you want to let your pupils in the EAZA Ape Campaign? Great, that’s splendid! We present you here with a little material you can use in the classroom.

A) Ready to use Powerpoints, appropriate for 6-8 years old and 9-14 years old. (See below)

B) Six multidisciplinary tasks to do in class with 8-12 year old pupils. The tasks combine, e.g., maths and reading with ape issues. They can be used independently from each other and in the form of self-controlling teamwork.
The topics are:
-    Task 1: write a text for a ape comic
-    Task 2: do the bandolino! (general and/or apes and threats)
-    Task 3: maths and apes
-    Task 4: why are apes in trouble?
-    Task 5: read and understand about apes
-    Task 6: read and understand: conservation project mixed up!

(Download the relevant materials below.)

C) Of course it would be great if your class really gets into action, too! For example by investigating which products in the local supermarket contain palm oil, by collecting mobile phones for recycling or by giving a presentation about apes and their problems to other classes of your school… Anyway, if you get moving for the apes, don’t you forget to sign up for the campaign formally.

D) Do you want to connect your pupils by mail to school children close by one of the Ape Campaign conservation projects, in Malaysia? Please contact Constanze from the Ape Campaign planning team for more information: c.mager[at]apenheul.nl
